Phase 4!

We are ready for FOUR!

Possibly one of my most valuable life skills would be understanding that even a small amount of time spent daily on perfecting a skill very quickly adds up. We learn this as musicians when practice time is precious and we have much to accomplish. Spend two minutes a day working on the skill in question, and then move on. In no time, that skill is mastered, and we are free to work on the next most important one.

I probably average two hours a day arranging tango, sometimes more, sometimes less, but absolutely every day. I have my latte, I work on the song du jour. I then close the laptop and go about my work day like a normal person. Then at night like a sandwich to my day, I physically play through what I arranged earlier, and pencil-edit notes for the next morning.

Fast forward to our upcoming FOURTH year of this project and I now have both bass parts and lead sheets for our entire library. And that library has grown! I continue to add exquisite tangos that catch my ear at local milongas, as well as a wide variety of cortinas, most born of late night doom-scrolling.

So I’ve started to reach out for a local double bass player, for that 4th part! I’ll let you know how that develops.
