Terrified Milonga

Serendipity has always been a major factor in what I do.

We started rehearsing in my studio early 2025, hoping to get some demo recordings to lead to gigs. (Me telling someone how great clarinet in tango is has nothing on someone hearing how great clarinet in tango is).

However, this spring my tenant, a beautiful art shop next door, chose to not renew her lease, and I pondered for about one minute about taking over the space rather than renting it to another shop right away. As it was in need of some painting and love anyway, I decided to take some time to renovate and use it to launch the band while I was working on it.

So… we started the venue. I loved the challenge of making it into a chameleon space: Art gallery by day, and once-a-month tango space by night. Colored lights are the most fun ever.

So now I host an unintentional milonga once a month. For now, anyway. Will we continue? I don’t know. I don’t care. We’re having a blast.
